Clementine’s Salon opens in Stanley Marketplace

By: Lori Moriary

Clementine’s Salon was opened in 2011 by Dani and John Everson. Throughout the past five years in business in the LoHi neighborhood, Clementine’s has grown to a family of 11 stylists. Clementines is one of the local businesses slated to open at the Stanley Marketplace.

Dani Everson had this to say about moving into the Marketplace.

“We were drawn to the Stanley because of the sense of community and diversity. It’s a lot of different businesses and backgrounds all coming together to fulfill a void in the Stapleton area. We just hope to be Stapleton’s neighborhood salon. We will offer a number of hair services but also skin care services. We are humbled to be able to grow in Colorado.”

A kid who knew what she wanted to be…

Dani Everson is the salon’s owner and founder. I learned a little more about Dani on her bio page. Dani says that she was the kind of kid who always knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. While all her other friends used their Barbie’s to play house and dress-up, Dani was giving her dolls haircuts and learning the hard way that Raggedy Ann’s hair wasn’t going to grow back.

Dani gives her mom props by saying she was raised by “the most patient and accepting mother on the planet”. When it came time to graduate from dolls to real people, Mom was happy to be the test client. The first cut was a bit of an adventure.  Dani began on one side, switched to the other, and ended up with an asymmetrical haircut and a valuable lesson. But Dani and her mom were unfettered, and the duo teamed up to create an all-star lineup of well-intentioned hairstyles.  After exhausting the possibilities of at-home experimentation, Dani enrolled at the Graham Webb Hair Academy.

After graduating Dani moved from DC to Denver, bolstering her education along the way with sessions at Paul Mitchell, Eufora, and L’Oreal SoHo Academy, along with extensive training at Vidal Sassoon and Bumble & bumble University.

And Clementine’s Salon is born…

With the help of her loving husband John, Dani opened the original Clementine’s on 32nd and Zuni in 2011, and the rest is history.

I asked Dani if she and her husband were natives of Colorado. “We are both originally from the D.C. Metro area but have been in Denver for 8 years. Denver was a draw for us because of its outdoors and it was a great place to raise our kids.”

You can get to know more on the Clementines Denver Facebook page.

Elle Magazine has included Clementine’s twice in their annual list of the Top Salons in the Nation for 2012 and 2015.  Clementine’s is a Bumble & bumble exclusive salon. They use Bumble behind the chair and sell it as well so you can take it home to maintain your style.

In addition to the hair services, Clementine’s will have two estheticians offering full skin and waxing services. We will be carrying Sanitas, and adding SkinCeuticals and Naturopathica to our roster of skin care lines.

An event and education space will be available for customers to use for weddings, birthday parties, etc.  The staff will utilize the open space with classes taught by staff and outside educators to continue to provide you with best service possible.

Stanley Marketplace is going to be the home of many fun, unique and local businesses. Each one of them has their own story and they will impact the community in different ways. Keep checking back as we feature these local enterprises. These interviews and information is being brought to you by Lending Maven Mortgage another proud Stapleton business.
